Sean Penn and Chavez Sitting in a Tree…
I don’t know if I have the chronology right, but let me try. Sean Penn has led a charmed life. His dad directed Little House on the Prairie episodes. His mother was Mrs. Kennedy on the show. He also began his acting career in “The Voice of Tinker Jones.” Later his brother became a critically acclaimed 80′s musician, his sister-in-law is Aimee Mann. He was Jeff Spicoli-an 80′s icon. Had something he said put on a t-shirt (which is a life long dream of mine). He married Madonna (when she was hot). Had an album dedicated to him. Became one of the most gifted actors in our lifetime with 5 nominations and to Best Actor statues. Married Jenny Gump. And hooked up with Jewel.
And now he has traded all of that in to have a love affair with dictator, Hugo Chavez. Now Chavez may have some endearing qualities, but some of his not so endearing traits are controlling 92% of the airwaves, running a Socialized country that keeps his people impoverished, high unemployment, hijack elections, oh and he jails or kills people who don’t agree with him. Sean Penn has gone from cute kid on Little House to telling people that they don’t have 1st Amendment Rights, but he does. Does Sean Penn realize that he would not have that kind of freedom in the countries that he so loves? Yes, countries, plural. The other one? You guessed it…Cuba. Again I have no problem with Sean Penn, Bill Maher, and Micheal Moore giving their opinion on these left-friendly shows. Because then I would have nothing to write about today. What I have a problem with is when they involve jailing people who do not agree with them. All three of the previously mentioned individuals have been afforded great luxury because of the country they hate. And act like we care about them because we have seen their movies. Well with the exception of Micheal Moore. I have not seen any of his movies.
When you go from giving a fantastic performance like the one in Mystic River to an America-hating, Communist-loving, spouser of stupidity, I can only quote Jeff Spicoli: “You d**k!!
